Meet the teamACIG is widely regarded nationwide as the nation’s preeminent construction insurer.
ACIG is not a generalist when it comes to safety, quality, claims, and risk management; all we focus on is construction. ACIG truly is “Of the Contractors, By the Contractors, and For the Contractors.” We are a Contractor-led and construction-inspired organization designed for the sole benefit of our Members.
Our goal is to utilize the expertise of our staff, the Members, and the industry to mitigate risk for our Members in their construction operations and beyond. Many of our Member-facing staff come directly from the construction industry, and all have many years of practical experience rooted in construction.
When a significant occurrence happens, a “SWAT Team” comprised of the Member’s key people and ACIG’s key people are immediately dispatched to the accident scene, preserving evidence, establishing strategy, and setting up a well-thought-out action plan to get the best result possible given the facts of the occurrence.
Our Members are different, with different cultures, different geographic regions, and different industry segments. With that in mind, we don’t try to force you to conform to processes and procedures that don’t fit your organization. However, we are also dogmatic about continuous improvement and will concentrate effort to move the needle.
Financial benefits are derived from the two main program components:
Loss reduction efforts resulting in losses below expected loss picks produce retrospective rating and bold retrospective rating returns. Adverse loss experience can result in a “retro additional.”
Underwriting profit is earned on your retro subject layer premium at the rate of 10% for the first six years of participation to reach your capital target, after which time it is reduced to 5%.
It is also earned in the shared risk layer, from experience pooled with other contractor Members.
Investment income is earned in both the Insurance Reserve Portfolio and in the Capital Portfolio.
Equity is earned here as a result of residual financial activity/benefits from Inactive Members and other miscellaneous transactions.
